Canopies

There's this thing in Costa Rica that is extremely popular with tourists. If you travel to Costa Rica, someone will inevitably ask you when you get back, "Oh, did you do a Canopy??" Canopies are zip lines hung above scenic rainforest type areas on which you...zip.

I was not planning on doing a canopy, and then I twisted my ankle. With hiking out of the question, there really wasn't anything left to do in Arenal BUT a canopy. I have to admit, I'm glad I was forced into this predicament, because it was way fun. The only thing you will not get from the pictures below is how EXTREMELY high up these zip lines were. At least 60-70 feet. When the guide asked me if I wanted to try one hanging upside-down, my mouth immediately answered "Yes!" while my brain said "Huh?!". It was great. The "superman" position was as close to flying as I've ever been (and no, I doubt I'll ever jump out of a plane...but you know, never say never).

So, in conclusion, I recommend the canopy. It's not a touristy gimmick, it's actually really fun and exciting. Enjoy!
